Curriculum Vitae for

JOCELYN F. WRIGHT

I just completed a short film that is also the “sizzle reel” for a series I wrote and starred in called SISTER JUDY AND THE DELINQUENTS which can be seen on YouTube. The pilot is written and the first two seasons outlined. Please link to http://youtu.be/fZnyv5B6cuQ.

Recently, I have written for Vice Films about Intel’s efforts to secure conflict-free metals for their technologies, re-scripted two animated, foreign film buyouts for LionsGate, as well as done numerous voiceover jobs for various production companies.

From the pilot episode in 2004 to the final episode in 2012, I was the dramaturge for Kyra Sedgwick on THE CLOSER.

The show was a Warner Brothers production that aired on TNT.  My official title when the series concluded was Executive Drama Supervisor.  My job encompassed research into forensics, police procedure, case histories, and law.  I re-wrote dialogue, tracked long story arcs, developed the backstory for Brenda (the central character of the show), scheduled rehearsals after analyzing the set blueprints and photos to help direct the scene, and then played every other part but Brenda Leigh using different voices that approximated the actors on the show as we rehearsed relentlessly.  It was my privilege to work with this superb actress.  The working relationship has resulted in a Golden Globe and an Emmy for Ms. Sedgwick.  She graciously thanked me during her Emmy acceptance speech.  (Link to Emmy acceptance speech at bottom of page.)

For many years I have played the role of “Sister” in The Late Nite Catechism plays: five franchised shows that combine improvisation and scripted dialogue to teach a variety of catechism classes with riotous results.  I also play Sister Rita in the musical from the same production group that chronicles the history of Bingo and its relationship to the Catholic Church in song. These plays have won awards and critical acclaim nationally.

As a writer I have had an episode of the WOMEN: STORIES OF PASSION series produced entitled THE FEATHER for SHOWTIME.  I have written for ABC Daytime and did a great deal of writing for THE CLOSER.  I wrote additional scenes for the horror film THE POSSESSION, which came out in 2012 and additional dialogue for R.I.P.D., 2013.  I have completed and optioned a number of screenplays, pilots, a short story collection, and endless poetry and song.  I did medical journalism and open education grant writing for pharmaceutical companies and a foundation for many years.

I have extensive costume design experience, with a journeyman work history that taught me from the ground up, going from wardrobe ager on The Terminator to shopper to set costumer to designer; working with the likes of James Earl Jones, Helen Mirren, Sean Penn, and more over the years.  Also dealing closely with corporate entities and branding issues to secure product placement and lower the budget as well as give the film a realistic look, as everyone wears brand names in the real world, so movies with no brand licensing look weirdly out of date.  I make jewelry and hats and distressed jeans for almost every rock star in the late eighties and early nineties.

For six years (2000- 2006) I hosted THE BABBLE CABARET, one of the most successful open-mics in Hollywood, at which I performed original poetry, song, short stories, and comedy as well as featuring a list of amazing performers.  A documentary was made about the cabaret, which was also featured on MTV, and was voted “Best open Mic in L.A.” by Salon.com in 2004, 2005, and 2006.  The mailing list boasted thousands of fans.

My special skills include many accents: French, Russian, English, German, New Jersey, Mid-Western, Southern, Australian, Spanish, New England Lock-Jaw, and many more!, singing and song-writing, swimming in competitive style, dancing, roller skating, fencing, speaking Spanish, French, and a little German; gluten free baking.

I attended Loomis Chaffee Institute and The University of Southern California, where I majored in Film and Television and minored in English; took classes at the Hartford Stage and the Goodman Theater; was part of Second City of Chicago’s Theater Shoppe.  I have taken Robert McKee’s Story Structure, Terry Berland’s The Voice class, The Golden Paradigm at AFI, and an intensive course in Shakespeare at the Stratford Theater in Canada.
